As a young girl I learned about sewing from my grandmothers. I was taught embroidery and basic sewing techniques and developed a love for creating things with fabric. My grandmothers made quilts and I was always in awe of the beauty of their work. One of my grandmothers was sought out by many people for her extrordinary quilting abilities.
Honestly, I am not the best seamstress around. As a matter of fact, I still have a lot to learn. Recently, I embarked on a simple project of making pillowcase dresses. I was surprised at how well they turned out because I doubt my abilities so much. My first batch of these cute little pillowcase dresses made a journey all the way to Botswana, Africa. My friend, Gloria Ross went there in March of this year for mission work and shared them with the children. It was so rewarding to see the children in these dresses.
In my little sewing corner in my laundry room you will find a number of incomplete projects. I am determined to tackle these projects one at a time and bring them to completion. Simplifying my life will enable me to do this. Through the years many ideas for sewing projects have been planted in my mind. It's time to take these ideas and turn them into plans and then turn them into reality.
Sewing or any other creative endeavor can be as simple or as hard as you want it to be. Find something you enjoy, and then simply enjoy it!
